What to expect

At High Rock, we want to worship God in a way that is relevant and genuine. This means you will find a relaxed environment with friendly faces, and the focus on God.

  • The service starts at 10 a.m.
  • You'll come in either through the main doors or, if you have kids, through the kids drop-off on the lower level.
  • Ask any of our friendly greeters questions you have about where to go!
  • Grab a cup of coffee or tea in our cafe area in the lobby.
  • Head into the auditorium and find a seat.
  • The service consists of a few worship songs, announcements of upcoming events, teaching, and an opportunity for anyone who wants to receive prayer.
  • The service ends around 11:15 a.m.
  • We offer sign-language interpretation. Please contact our Deaf Ministry leader Larry Leonard for more info.

We are located 5 minutes from the IU campus on the Northwest side of Bloomington at 3124 Canterbury Court.

From downtown:  Take 17th Street (aka Arlington Road) west toward Ellettsville.  Travel approximately 2 miles and cross over two bridges. High Rock is on your right in Westbury Village.

From 37/46: Take 37 North. Take SR 46 exit West toward Ellettsville. Turn Right at the red light onto Arlington Rd.  Travel 1.5 miles and High Rock is on your left in Westbury Village.

What should I wear?

Whatever you are comfortable in. If you like t-shirts and jeans, that's totally fine. If you prefer to wear your Sunday best, that works too. The atmosphere is relaxed, and there's no standard dress code.

Can I bring my coffee into the service?

Yep. Just use a lid, please.

How long is each service?

About an hour and fifteen minutes.

Will I be singled out?

Nope. You'll probably just have a few nice people say hi to you.

Is there childcare?

Yes. We have a great kids program for infants through 5th graders that is fun and exciting, centered on Jesus, and thoroughly safe. We also have a cry room next to the auditorium for nursing mothers. And while we encourage parents to check out the kids program, we know that any new place can be intimidating for your child, so it's fine if he or she wants to sit with you at first.

What are the sermons like?

The sermons are rooted in the Bible, and taught in a relevant way, using straightforward, understandable language. As far as subject matter goes, since the whole Bible is about Jesus, that's what we preach: Jesus, crucified and risen, and all the practical implications and help that message has for our day-to-day lives.

Listen to a sample sermon here.

What is the music like?

Our music is meant to help you engage in worshiping God. The sound is stylistically current, yet the lyrics are rich, including a mix of new songs and hymns Christians have been singing to God for centuries.

Will I have to give money?

No. If you are newer, or especially if it's your first time, you will not be asked to give anything. Giving is for those who consider High Rock their church and who want to worship God with their finances.
