Our Mission
Our mission is to love God, love people, and make disciples. In Matthew 22:37-39 Jesus makes it clear that we are to love the “Lord our God” with all our heart, soul, and mind, and that we are to love our neighbor as ourselves. He would later command his followers to “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations.” (Mat. 28:19) Based on these clear and simple teachings of Jesus we find the mission of High Rock Church.
Our Vision
Our vision is to be a relational, Jesus-centered church that passionately holds to the truth of the Bible and plants many more healthy local churches. We want people to learn about Jesus in an impactful and life-changing way, and to fulfill Jesus’ great commission of making authentic disciples of the nations. We are part of a small network of churches who encourage and build each other up, and plant healthy local churches in other university cities around the world.
Our Story
Scott Joseph, who was a pastor at Vine Church in Carbondale, IL initially felt God calling him to plant High Rock in 2007. In November of that year, the plans for starting the church were announced at Vine, and a team of 25 people responded to God's call to move to Bloomington to plant High Rock Church in 2008. Church planting in university cities is foundational to the church's past and to our plans for the future.
