The Goodness of Humble Submission

Submission to authority doesn’t come naturally to us. Left to ourselves, we tend to resist authority or respond with resentment. But God teaches us that submission to various human authorities is ultimately an expression of trust in Him. We have ample opportunities in a divisive political climate to display our confidence in God’s sovereign oversight of all human affairs, even if it means our suffering. It is difficult to suffer well but Jesus supplies the power and example to humbly entrust ourselves to God.
